 1.  RULES (To be published)
2. Latest KLRF Notes & Reminders
SUBJECT: KLRF Notes & Reminders as of 9.3.17

KLRF Ohana,
Hope all are having a safe and enjoyable Labor Day weekend…

Contacts: As a reminder, please update your address books to show the point of contact for KLRF Operations is Elliot Arana, klrfsuperintendent@gmail.com / 784-8020 (text preferred) and for KLRF Support is Don Garwood, klrfsupport@huakaimgmt.com / 524-9310. For now, emails to the BoD can be submitted to the Secretary (nsilva.klrf@gmail.com). The BoD is working on establishing emergency/after hours contact procedures and will notify Members when implemented.  Note: The following email addresses (klrf.boardofdirectors@gmail.com; klrfchiefofops@gmail.com; klrfcovenants@gmail.com) are not monitored by the BoD and should not be used until further notice. To complement the info posted on Huakai's portal (www.huakaimgmt.managebuilding.com), the BoD is also working on a website specifically for KLRF. Once finalized, the website will be used as the primary means to communicate with Members (messages for the BoD will be able to be submitted through the website).

As you know, KLRF is overcoming many challenges, but your dedicated efforts are making a difference, as progress is being made in many areas, to include the following:

1.Violations: The BoD is emphasizing the need to clear all remaining Violations (down to approximately 40 from DPP and 20 from Wastewater). The expectation is for Members to take appropriate steps to comply with all rules and regulations or be subjected to penalties and enforcement measures. By achieving compliance, KLRF is improving its standing in the Ag community. If anyone is interested in volunteering to serve on the Compliance Committee or applying for the paid (part time) Compliance position, please notify klrfsupport@huakaimgmt.com and/or deweesandy@gmail.com for more details.

2.Portable Toilets: As a mitigating measure for the Wastewater Violations, the BoD may be able to assist members with obtaining approved portable toilets (i.e. porta potties). Please contact klrfsuperintendent@gmail.com and/or nsilva.klrf@gmail.com for more details.

3.Volunteers: KLRF Members continue to support each other. Multiple Members have made recent donations of time, equipment, and resources and the results are evident. The BoD recognizes the recent contributions from the following Members and wants to express appreciation for the selfless efforts:
-Lot 12 (Rosalie) for a monetary donation in the amount of $1000.
-Lot 60 (Rino) and Lot 91 (Clarence) for electrical work.
-Lot 20 (Rick), Lot 25 (Joe), Lot 33 (Eddie), Lot 34 (Roberto), and Lot 91 (Leo) for machines, easement clearing, and road work.
-And many others too numerous to list, for supportive actions and encouragement… Mahalo!
If anyone would like to volunteer for future activities, please notify klrfsuperintendent@gmail.com for more details.

4.Infrastructure: The machines purchased by KLRF are proving valuable in fixing roads and maintaining the water system. There is much more that needs to be done, but the financial and operational benefit of owning the equipment is steadily being realized.  Water issues are sometimes unpredictable so Members are reminded to conserve as much as possible (e.g. use drip systems, minimize watering during day hours, store water in containers for emergency use, no tampering with KLRF meters/pipes).

5.Security: Incidents have decreased; however, please take the time to file reports with HPD and follow up with klrfsuperintendent@gmail.com (if serious or an emergency, contact 9-1-1 first). Also, the BoD is attempting to determine how many more Members are planning to request Fob keys- please reply to klrfsuperintendent@gmail.com and/or deweesandy@gmail.com by 9.17.17 to identify additional Fob requirements for BoD review.

6.Future events: a) Oahu Resource Conservation & Development event (No Till Farming) on Sep 8, 9am-noon (visit www.oahurcd.org for more details); b) Hawaii Farm Bureau Annual Meeting on Sep 12, 5:30 pm @ Lower HARC (visit www.hfbf.org for more details).

The BoD expresses sincere appreciation for all Members who are keeping KLRF running by following the rules, clearing violations, volunteering resources, and paying bills. The Farm continues to make progress. Unfortunately, some Members require extra attention from the BoD which detracts from other Farm requirements. Please meet your responsibilities and encourage others to do the same. By working together, KLRF will be successful...

KLRF: for the Farmers; for the Community; for the Land

Sincerely,
Your BoD
